Hi, Daniel:

Thanks for the very clear description of what you're seeing.
The Python bindings basically wrap libgetdns and handle data
type conversions in both directions and don't do much more
than that.  I have some thoughts about what might be causing
this - I'll definitely take a look at it this weekend.
